Military Science 498

MSCI 498:  Independent Study

Prerequisites: MSCI 111, MSCI 112, MSCI 211, and MSCI 212

Credit Hours: (1-6)

Requires one or more in-depth individual research assignments culminating with a presentation of findings at the end of the semester to the senior Military Science instructor (RU Army ROTC OIC). All course material will be researched and presented in accordance with Department of Defense (DoD) and Department of the Army (DA) regulatory guidance.

Note(s): The grade option for this course will be in accordance with the standard RU A-F grading scale.


Detailed Description of Content of Course

In accordance with research objective(s0< a strategy, and a timeline agreed upon by the student and the instructor during the first class meeting and according to all applicable regulations, the student will be assigned research topics in one or more of the following military subfields: strategy, planning, logistics, maintenance, and/or history.


Detailed Description of Conduct of Course

Written and orally presented research presentations.


Goals and Objectives of the Course

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will become more proficient in one or more of the major areas of military leadership.


Assessment Measures

Students will be required to report their progress to the senior military instructor at no less than 3 week intervals at which time they will receive guidance for future research.
