Students create, host Bonnieroo

The annual free student-created music festival, Bonnieroo, will take place on the Bonnie Plaza on April 20 from 6-11 p.m.

The campus community will be able to listen to live music from local artists and Radford groups and musicians. "I'm excited to see people come together to enjoy music in the community," said Fiona O'Brien, a junior from Ocean City, Maryland.

As well as hosting numerous musical acts, the event will include games, giveaways, outdoor yoga sessions, festival make up, tie dye stations and more.

The event is organized, marketed and completely student-led by the Radford music business students. “I think this is a fun, unique event that is inclusive to everyone,” said O’Brien, who is the president of the Bonnieroo Committee and head coordinator of the event.

The Music Business Student Association, Radford’s Club Programming Committee, GrammyU, the Radford Jazz Organization, Mu Phi Epsilon, Phi Mu Alpha, Sigma Alpha Iota and the Radford Acabellas are sponsoring the event.

Radford student musical acts include the Radford University Jazz Ensemble, The Radford Acabellas, and Brand-New Hand-Me Downs, winners of the February Battle of the Bands competition.

The local musical acts include The Get Right Band, Nice Couch, Dalton Dash and Place Called Home.
