Although he was a lifelong resident of the City of Radford and a member of a family with close ties to Radford University, it wasn’t assumed Zach Turk would make RU his educational home. He is very clear: he chose Radford.

“I didn’t know exactly what I wanted to major in but I knew Radford University had a wide variety of majors I could explore,” he said.

Currently a member of the university’s Division I soccer team, which is celebrating its 40th season this year, Turk noted, “Radford also offered me the opportunity to play Division I athletics, which was a something that meant a lot to me.”

While Turk may have arrived at Radford unsure of the degree he wanted to pursue, he quickly found economics to be one of his favorite courses and College of Business and Economics building one of his favorite spots to study.

“I love the COBE building because it stimulates learning and is a major focal point on campus,” he said. “Being an economics major it’s great to have such a wonderful building to have classes in.”

He also learned that he had a passion for political science and plans to pursue a double major. After graduation, he hopes to attend law school and become an attorney – a path well tread by his father, uncle and grandfather.

“There is a history in my family of politics. My grandfather was in the Virginia State Senate,” Turk said.
