Campus involvement: Looking forward to joining a sorority in spring 2011

Deciding on Radford University wasn’t a difficult decision for Chelsea Cromwell.  She hopes to someday manage her father’s company, and because of that desire, receiving a top-quality education from a well-known, and respected in-state institution, such as Radford University, was incredibly important to her.

“When I came to visit Radford last year I just knew this is where I wanted to go, and the place I wanted to be for the next four years. The campus was really beautiful and all the students seemed to really be enjoying themselves. Also, as a business major, the new College of Business and Economics (COBE) building being constructed, was a main factor in my decision,” says Cromwell.

Cromwell notes that one of her most favorite aspects about Radford University is the class size.

“I really enjoy being able to have one-on-one relationships with my professors. Sometimes, at a big university, students end up being just a number, but that’s not the case here. If I need help or don’t understand something, all of my professors are more than willing to assist me. It has been that kind of personal attention that has really helped me thrive in all of my classes. However, if for some reason my instructors aren’t available, I have other resources throughout campus to turn to, such as the Learning Assistance and Resource Center (LARC). I think every paper I have written for my core classes I have gotten edited by LARC,” Cromwell says.

For Cromwell, choosing Radford might have been the easy choice, but deciding on what to do in her spare time might not be so simple. Cromwell says that she’s never bored, and when she’s not studying she has an array of activities to help keep her involved with the campus community.

Whether it’s catching a movie in the Bonnie Hurlburt Student Center, hitting the gym, joining a club, trying out the rock climbing wall, or bowling at the Bonnie, there is always something fun and engaging for Radford University students, just like Cromwell, to be a part of.
