Research in Action
Radford University has a vibrant and active research community. Research is an active part of academic life at Radford University where hands-on research experience is provided for both graduate and undergraduate students in most disciplines. Faculty are supported and encouraged to pursue research in their area of expertise singly and collaboratively with either or both their peers and their students.
Our faculty are involved in various fields of research across the academic spectrum. We are committed to the discovery of new ideas and evolving knowledge. Recognized as leaders around the globe, our faculty members are forging new paths of learning and enlightenment which will, in turn, help to shape the future of each discipline.
In our knowledge driven economy, the demand for highly trained professionals in every field increases. More and more students are choosing to pursue a graduate degree. Graduate studies at Radford University are designed to give the student advanced knowledge in a special field of study, higher levels of professional competence, an understanding of and respect for scholarly research and a sophisticated knowledge of the techniques of continued, lifelong intellectual growth. These goals are achieved through coherent orderly programs of study, investigation and supervised practical experiences that are carefully planned by each individual student in consultation with a graduate faculty advisor and a graduate advisory committee.
The Office of Sponsored Programs and Grants Management supports all faculty and staff in the pursuit of external funding that benefits Radford University, its students, and faculty. Our services included both pre-award and post-award functions. Pre-Award can assist with finding funding opportunities, proposal development, proposal editing, budget preparation, and proposal submission to the sponsor. Our Post-Award Administrators assist our Principal Investigators with the day-to-day management of the grant; to include, monitoring to ensure compliance, invoice preparation, approve grant related charges, and distribute indirect costs charged on the grant.
Our Research Compliance Office administers Radford University’s IACUC (Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee), IRB (Institutional Review Board), Research Integrity Office, and Export & Foreign Travel. We are here to help you with your regulatory compliance needs.
The services we provide include guiding faculty and students through the steps of protocol development, where needed, and protocol processing and review. Our office is also available to speak to classrooms and other groups to help get projects off to an efficient start. We also present an IRB discussion at each Our Turn session.
