Inaugural Budget Planning Summit Invitation and Schedule

Message from President Brian O. Hemphill, Ph.D.

Dear Budget Planning Summit Participants:

I am pleased to invite you to participate in Radford University's Inaugural Budget Planning Summit to be held on Friday, Sept. 9, 2016. The Summit will begin at 9 a.m. and conclude at 4 p.m. in the Kyle Hall Multipurpose Room (340) with the utilization of various rooms throughout Kyle Hall for breakouts to be held from 11:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. As part of the Summit, participants will hear presentations from Commonwealth of Virginia and Radford University officials regarding the budget forecast. The Summit will also feature breakouts in which groups of 15 individuals, including students, faculty and staff, will brainstorm and engage in thoughtful discussion regarding a variety of recommendations related to revenue generation, efficiencies and innovation. Following the breakouts, individual groups will present to all Summit participants followed by discussion. A full agenda and schedule is provided below for your review and information.

You are being asked to attend this important campus-wide event as a representative of the Radford family. You came highly recommended by your peers due to your identification as a strong member of the campus community. I look forward to seeing you on Sept. 9. If you are unable to participate, please contact my office as soon as possible so another member of the Radford family can be appointed.

Those attending the Summit are being asked to read the following advance materials in order to become better acquainted with the overall higher education goals for the Commonwealth, the challenges and opportunities facing Radford University and various articles concerning the topics of revenue generation, efficiencies and innovation.

The presentations and discussions from the Budget Planning Summit will serve as a basis for the creation of Radford University's Six-Year Plan and provide meaningful feedback as we prepare to engage in the strategic planning process. I am confident that the Budget Planning Summit will provide a unique opportunity for Radford University to engage in a broad and collaborative discussion as we serve current and future generations of Highlanders!

With Highlander Pride,

Brian O. Hemphill, Ph.D.
