Social Guidelines

All conduct standards and guidelines adhere to the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia and ensure a secure and focused learning environment. Respect for all persons, living beings, and personal and public property is expected at all times. Any standards not specified in the Parent/Student Handbook will be handled on a case-by-case basis. Rule Infractions may result in dismissal from the program, in which case a parent / guardian will be required to pick up the dismissed student.

In order to receive a Governor’s School certificate, students are required to be in attendance from the opening ceremony on Sunday June 26, 2022 through the closing ceremony and showcase on Saturday July 23, 2022 - Final Day activities typically end by 3:30pm.

Students will not be excused from campus during the session for any reason other than an emergency.

When students accept the appointment to the Governor’s School, they must be prepared to forego other activities, however commendable they may be, for the duration of the Governor’s School. This guideline is in place to ensure all students derive the maximum benefit from the program.

In preparation for the registration window: We suggest you read through the Parent & Student Handbook before registering for GovSchool. The handbook will inform you on most all details regarding policies, procedures, and activities.
