What to Bring

All residence halls are air conditioned and furnished with twin bed, desk, dressers and window covering. Each room has either a private bath, or suited bathroom (bathroom between two rooms). All residence halls are equipped with laundry facilities, lounge space with a television, kitchenettes, drink and snack machines.

What to Bring to Governor's School

  • Cell phone and charger

  • Laptop computer, wireless compatible preferred, ethernet cable

  • Alarm clock/watch/lamp (please note that cell phones must be off in the classroom unless instructed otherwise by the instructor).

  • 2-3 dressy outfits and plenty of comfortable casual clothing

  • Tennis shoes, old shoes that can get wet, bathing suit

  • Outfits for dances. This year’s dance theme is “Dancing Through the Decades”  Bring your best decade attire (90’s, 80’s, 70’s, etc.) to dress up and dance the night away!

  • Hangers, quarters for laundry, laundry detergent, dryer sheets, laundry basket

  • Pillow, blankets, extra long twin bed linens

  • Bathrobe, toiletries, toilet paper, bath towels, shower curtain, beauty products

  • Medicines/First Aid supplies

  • Cleaning supplies (especially when you move out), broom, dustpan

  • Power Strips/Surge Protectors (per RU Policy)-No Extension cords

  • Musical Instruments (optional for Humanities students)

  • Paper, pens, pencils, notebook, bookbag

  • Any supplies needed for your discipline

  • Umbrella and raincoat, sunscreen, bug repellent, flashlight, refillable water bottle

  • Trash Can/Trash bags

  • Beach towel, travel chair, and/or lawn blanket, yoga mat

  • Optional: Mini-fridge, TV, fan, snacks/utensils/bowl/plate/cups, Microwave (under 1000 watts)

What NOT to Bring to Governor's School

  • Cars, skateboards, longboards, bikes or rollerblades

  • Laser pointers

  • Weapons or look-a-like toys

  • Alcohol, illegal drugs, or tobacco products

  • Candles, incense, matches or anything flammable

  • Toaster Ovens

  • Pets
