IA / IT Intern

Radford, VA

Mountain State Information Systems, Inc. (MSIS) is involved in numerous contracts at the Naval

Surface Warfare Centers in Dahlgren, Virginia and Crane, Indiana as well as the NASA

Independent Verification and Validation Facility in Fairmont, West Virginia. MSIS is seeking

an intern to perform various IA/IT tasks at our local Radford, VA office that will include IA

research as well as day-to-day IT tasking as required. The intern will work closely with MSIS

staff, management, and vendors and will be expected to have the initiative and self-determination

to learn new skills. This will be a part-time (2-3 days per week, 2-3 hours per day) paid

internship beginning in May 2015.

Specific responsibilities include:

• Perform IA research related to real-time embedded weapon and space systems

• Maintain the MSIS website as changes and upgrades are required

• Provide programming and design expertise as needed

• Perform system backups and configure PCs

The qualified candidate is:

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in information assurance

• A self-directed learner

• Dependable and trustworthy

Skills / Knowledge:

• Understanding of current IA concepts, issues, and industry practices

• Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.)

• Programming Languages – PHP, HTML desired

• Backup and recovery expertise desired

• SharePoint & Systems Administration skills desired
