Graduating Senior Honored at Spring Commencement Ceremony

Biology Graduate Justin Drake Awarded Artis Outstanding Student Award

Biology graduate and Dean's Scholar Justin Drake was awarded the Artis Outstanding Student Award in the College of Science and Technology by RU Board of Visitor and award sponsor Ms. Nancy Artis.
Drake is a celebrated student scientist who excels both in and outside of the classroom and laboratory. He is a summa cum laude graduate and the recipient of the Radford University Bookstore Scholarship, the Sunshine Brooks Foundation Scholarship, a Federal Competition Grant and a Lions Club Scholarship.
In addition to earning a perfect grade point average, he is a member of the Beta Beta Beta Biological Honors Society and the Phi Sigma Pi National Honor Fraternity in which he served as the 2010 RU delegate to the national convention.
In the summer of 2009, Drake explored his goal of becoming a physician while working side-by-side with his faculty mentor and RU assistant biology professor Peter Christmas in a research facility at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, the teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School.
Justin has presented his research involving anti-inflammatory enzymes at the Big South Undergraduate Research Symposium and the Annual RU Undergraduate and Graduate Forum.
