Dr. Rabe received her Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from Gardner-Webb University. She received her master of science degree in Kinesiology with a concentration in Exercise Science from the University of Arkansas, and her Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training from Radford University. She has been a certified athletic trainer by the Board of Certification since 2007.

Dr. Rabe joins RU from Gardner-Webb University where she served as the Department Chair, Program Director, and Clinical Education Coordinator for the past four years. Before joining the Athletic Training Program at Gardner-Webb, Sarah was the Senior Athletic Training over Women's Soccer and Assistant Clinical Coordinator for the Graduate Master of Athletic Training Program at the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga. Sarah's additional clinical experience comes from her time as an Assistant Athletic Trainer for women's soccer at the University of Memphis and her time working with football and men's tennis at the University of Arkansas as a Graduate Assistant and Intern Athletic Trainer.

Rabe's research is in academic risk-risk taking in higher education along with first year experiences in underrepresented populations. Dr. Rabe co-authored two articles published in peer reviewed journals; Clavicular Fracture in a Collegiate Football Player: A Case Report of Rapid Return to Play in the Journal of Athletic Training and Athletic Pubalgia: Recognition, Treatment, & Prevention in Athletic Training & Sports Health Care.

Dr. Rabe is a native of Roanoke, Virginia.
