Director of Freshman Recruitment

Hi there! My name is Rebekah LaPlante and I serve as the Director of Freshman Recruitment at Radford University. I oversee the Freshman application review process and work with US students living abroad and athletes. As a double alumna of Radford University, I can speak confidently to the quality of the academics offered here as well as the student-centered approach for which Radford is known. I completed my B.S. in Communication in 1999 and a M.S. in Communication in 2001. I have worked in college admissions for over 20 years and it has been one of my greatest gifts to help students find their home here at Radford just as I did. 

As a first-generation college student, Radford was the perfect fit for me. It is not too big, but not too small. I had the support and encouragement I needed but was challenged to step outside of my comfort zone. My favorite part about Radford is the people – the students, families and K-12 partners we work with and of course our amazing Admissions Team! 

Southwest Virginia holds a special place in my heart as I was born and raised in this area. After meeting my husband at Radford University while working in the Financial Aid office as a student, we made the New River Valley our permanent home after graduation. When I am not at work you can find me cheering on my two boys at their basketball games, playing board games, hiking and baking. I am well-known in the Admissions office for my homemade cinnamon rolls and I love to surprise people with homemade treats!
