Hello! My name is Michael James, and I am from Fredericksburg, Virginia. I graduated from Mercyhurst University in Erie, Pennsylvania in 2011 with a BA in History, and in 2012 I earned an MA in History of Art and Architecture from the University of Reading in England.
After living in upstate New York and Connecticut for the past two years, I’m excited to be back in Virginia with the opportunity to work with prospective students from the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast. Radford University is a special place with incredible faculty, staff, and alumni. One visit to our campus is enough for students to feel at home right away, and many form lifelong bonds during their time here.
Radford University’s gorgeous setting near the mountains, valleys, and rivers of Southwest Virginia provides limitless opportunities for outdoor adventures and the chance to become active in vibrant local communities. The university is committed to cultural diversity and inclusiveness, and encourages its students to mature personally and professionally by studying abroad and pursuing internships.
Outside of work, travel and sports are my two biggest passions. My current goals are to visit all 50 state capitol buildings (only 20 to go), all 59 national parks, and attend games in as many baseball and college basketball venues as I can. Radford is a short drive from some of the Southeast’s most thriving cities, and you’ll find me exploring those on most weekends!
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns, and I look forward to working with the next generation of Highlanders!
