Hello Future Highlanders! My name is Travis Carter and I am the Associate Director of Admissions here at Radford, overseeing the freshman recruitment process and working with students from the midwest, deep south and western states. I am originally from Franklin County, Virginia (Glade Hill to be exact) and I graduated from Roanoke College with a Bachelor of Business Administration.

I have been working in college admissions for several years, even before my time at Radford. I love being a go-to resource for new students who are navigating the college search process, each year brings new faces, new energy, and new ideas. Radford, to me, can be described as an amazing and extremely welcoming community- a Division 1 atmosphere with a small college feel. It is easy to see why so many people are attracted to this place. I encourage you to come experience our campus for yourself and take a look at the remarkable view from Kyle Hall (my favorite spot).

When I am not at work, I try to spend as much time with my family as humanly possible- especially my wife Sarah, and our beautiful baby girl, Katherine. I am a big sports fan, I’m into watching them and playing them (terribly, at that). I also repeatedly watch the same TV shows and movies and I am known to quote them in conversation. Just a few of my favorites are: Seinfeld, The Andy Griffith Show, A Few Good Men, and Wedding Crashers.

My biggest piece of advice to high school students- Don’t Blink. If you think high school went by fast, brace yourself for an accelerated pace over the next four years.

Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions that you may have during this exciting time. You can email me at or text me at (540) 492-4625.
