Update: Monday, Feb. 2

On Tuesday, Feb. 3., Radford University’s main campus and locations in Roanoke (RUC and RHEC) will be open for a normal operating schedule.  

Managers of all employees should be flexible in offering their employees adjusted schedules or remote work options, particularly for those employees who have dependent-care considerations or those who may have difficulty traveling due to road conditions along their commute.

In addition, faculty should accommodate students who may need flexibility in returning to in-person classes.

Please exercise an abundance of caution when traveling to and from campus, as well as when you are on campus. The safety and well-being of our students and employees are our top priorities, and our operational decisions are designed to achieve these priorities.

Update: Sunday, Feb. 1

On Monday, Feb. 2., Radford University will be open but operating under modified conditions.  

All classes at Radford University’s main campus and Roanoke locations (RUC and RHEC) will be remote on Monday, Feb. 2. 

  • Students should check their radford.edu emails and 2DL for instructions from faculty about alternative assignments, virtual learning, or make-up classes and activities for Monday classes.    
  • Your instructor is your primary point of contact for questions about coursework or expectations.    
  • Information Technology Services (IT) can assist with D2L access, Zoom and other technology-related needs. For more information and IT support, please visit the Information Technology Services webpage

Employees designated by job description as essential personnel should report to work as advised by their supervisors. Non-essential employees should work remotely as they are able or make other arrangements with their supervisors. Managers of non-essential employees should be flexible with their employees, particularly those who have dependent-care considerations.

Update: Saturday, Jan. 31

Radford University’s locations in Radford and Roanoke will be closed on Sunday, Feb. 1, with all activities and events canceled for the day.

During this authorized closing, employees designatedby job descriptionas essential personnelshould report towork as advised by their supervisors.

We will continue to monitor weather forecasts and will communicate any further changes to the university's operational status as needed.

Update: Thursday, Jan. 29

Radford University’s locations in Radford and Roanoke will hold classes and events on Friday morning as scheduled. All locations will close at Noon on Friday. All in-person, hybrid and online classes, as well as events, will be canceled Friday afternoon and all day Saturday. 

We will continue to monitor weather models overnight and will communicate any further adjustments to this plan. Please be sure to check your radford.edu emails first thing in the morning.

On Friday, Student Recreation and Wellness and The Bonnie will be open until 4 p.m.
