Community of Practice Information
The VDOE TTAC at RU, in partnership with the Center on Transition Innovations, is supporting school divisions in Superintendent's Regions 6 and 7 through regional Communities of Practice. These CoPs are focused on sharing information relative to secondary transition planning, including but not limited to: age-appropriate transition assessment, community resources, postsecondary goals, family engagement, and school/community successes and challenges.
If you are involved with any aspect of postsecondary transition support in a region 6 or7 school/division and would like to participate in these CoPs, please contact us.
Additional Learning Opportunities
If your school or division is interested in coordinating with TTAC to provide professional learning about postsecondary transition for your faculty/staff, please contact us.
The Virginia Department of Education has created a centralized statewide portal for information, resources, demonstration, and research for educators and other stakeholders in the transition of youth with disabilities. The Center on Transition Innovations (CTI) at Virginia Commonwealth University provides evidence-based resources and information along with emerging practices in the field. The results of research studies and demonstration projects conducted here in Virginia help us shape the ongoing work of CTI.
The TTAC at George Mason University has developed a document to help crosswalk Kohler et al. Taxonomy for Transition Programming, the Transition Services Flowchart, and High Leverage Practices (HLPs) with professional learning opportunities and other resources.
