Focus and Philosophy: I believe in developing complete musicians who are not only skilled performers but
also curious, creative thinkers. My teaching emphasizes both the technical mastery
of the saxophone and the artistry required to bring music to life.
Background: My journey with the saxophone has taken me from Northwestern University to Bowling
Green and South Carolina, with performance experiences that range from solo recitals
to international chamber festivals. These experiences have shaped my perspective on
the instrument’s versatility and expressive potential.
Teaching: I teach applied saxophone with an emphasis on fundamentals, performance preparation,
and chamber collaboration. I enjoy helping students build confidence and versatility,
preparing them for both solo and ensemble settings. My pedagogy also stresses the
importance of interpretation and personal artistry.
Research/Scholarship/Creative Work: I’ve performed as a soloist and chamber musician at festivals, conferences, and orchestral
concerts across the U.S. and internationally, including the Navy Band’s International
Saxophone Symposium and St. Olavfestdagene in Norway. My work also includes premieres,
collaborations, and ensemble performances that showcase the saxophone’s range.
