Focus and Philosophy: I see bassoon study as a chance to blend technical mastery with creativity and joy.
My teaching encourages curiosity and a willingness to take risks, creating a space
where students can discover their unique musical voice.
Background: I trained at Eastman and Boston University before building a career as a performer
and educator in Virginia. Along the way, I’ve balanced orchestral playing with teaching
at universities and youth programs.
Teaching: At Radford, I guide students through fundamentals, solo and ensemble repertoire,
and audition prep. I also encourage flexibility across musical styles, helping students
connect their academic studies with real-world performance.
Research/Scholarship/Creative Work: I’ve performed with the Roanoke Symphony, Lynchburg Symphony, and various chamber
groups. Outside of classical bassoon, I also perform with a Celtic band and a handbell
ensemble, bringing a spirit of versatility and fun to my musical life.
