Focus and Philosophy: I believe music education should combine discipline with joy. My teaching centers
on developing strong technical skills while fostering a lifelong love for brass playing.
Whether it’s trumpet, French horn, or ensemble work, I want students to feel both
challenged and inspired.
Background: My journey as a musician began with a strong foundation in music education, which
led me to study trumpet performance at Boston Conservatory. Along the way, I discovered
a passion for both performing and teaching, finding fulfillment in balancing a professional
playing career with helping young musicians grow.
Teaching: At Radford, I teach applied trumpet and French horn, as well as conduct chamber ensembles
like the Highlander Brass Ensemble and Brass Quintet. I emphasize fundamentals, chamber
collaboration, and performance preparation. My approach combines practical experience
with encouragement, aiming to help students reach both their academic and performance
goals.
Research/Scholarship/Creative Work: As a performer, I’ve played with the Roanoke Symphony, Opera Roanoke, and co-founded
the Roanoke Chamber Brass. I’ve also performed with Mannheim Steamroller, West Virginia
Symphony, Shenandoah Symphony, and more. These experiences allow me to bring professional
insights directly
