Focus and Philosophy: I believe in guiding students to become well-rounded, flexible musicians who are
prepared for the many opportunities in today’s music world. My approach values discipline,
exploration, and personal expression.
Background: As a multi-woodwind performer, I’ve been fortunate to train with some of the finest
teachers in the field and perform in competitions, musicals, orchestras, and chamber
groups. My experiences across instruments and genres shaped my commitment to versatility
as a performer and educator.
Teaching: I work with students across the full woodwind family, emphasizing fundamentals, stylistic
awareness, and practical performance skills. Whether preparing for solo performance,
ensemble work, or auditions, I encourage students to see versatility as a strength.
Research/Scholarship/Creative Work: I have performed in orchestras, baroque ensembles, chamber groups, and musicals,
earning recognition in competitions like the Marjorie Stricklin Emerging Artists Competition.
These performance opportunities continue to inform my teaching and inspire students
to pursue excellence across instruments.
