Focus and Philosophy: I see voice training as a balance between artistry, technique, and personal growth.
My goal as a teacher is to help students unlock their most authentic sound while developing
confidence both on stage and off. Every voice is unique, and I work to guide singers
toward discovering their individuality and expressive power, whether in opera, concert,
or contemporary repertoire.
Background: My love for music has taken me from the Midwest to New York City and beyond, studying
at The Juilliard School and performing on many of the world’s most renowned stages.
Along the way, I was drawn to the versatility of the countertenor voice and the opportunities
it gives to explore both early music and modern works. These experiences inspired
me to help young singers navigate their own artistic paths with curiosity and courage.
Teaching: I bring my wide performance background into the studio, helping students with everything
from Baroque ornamentation to modern vocal technique. In addition to applied lessons,
I emphasize performance preparation, musical style, and the mindset needed to succeed
in a professional environment. I believe in fostering a supportive, collaborative
atmosphere where students feel encouraged to take risks and grow.
Research/Scholarship/Creative Work: Outside of teaching, I maintain an active performance career, singing with The Metropolitan
Opera, Royal Opera House London, Vienna State Opera, and other world-class ensembles.
I’ve premiered new works, recorded for international labels, and been recognized in
prestigious vocal competitions. These experiences not only fuel my own artistry but
also allow me to bring fresh perspectives into my teaching.
