Headshot of Luke Liska
As an Assistant Professor of Marketing at Radford University, Director of the Davis College Fellows, and Assistant Director of the Virginia Governor’s School for the Visual & Performing Arts and Humanities, I am passionate about inspiring students to innovate at the intersection of digital marketing, consumer behavior, and technology. I teach courses such as Creativity and Innovation, Digital Marketing, Marketing in Esports, and Creativity in Business in our MBA program. I have the privilege of directing the Davis College Fellows, a program designed to connect high-achieving students with leadership and industry opportunities. I strive to create hands-on, collaborative environments—whether that means my Digital Marketing students working with local businesses, Esports students hosting tournaments, or guiding Honors Capstone projects and Research Rookies on their own discoveries.

I love Radford University for its commitment to empowering students to lead, create, and challenge the status quo. The best part of my job is witnessing students find their voice and develop the confidence to tackle real-world problems, especially when our Creativity and Innovation course culminates in the Wicked Festival—an interdisciplinary showcase of student solutions to pressing societal challenges. As the coach for Radford’s Esports team, I enjoy fostering a spirit of teamwork and friendly competition on campus.

My research explores digital marketing, sensory experiences, immersive virtual environments, and the use of artificial intelligence for social good. My work has been published in journals such as the Journal of Advertising, Journal of Consumer Behavior, and Journal of Research in Interactive Marketing, and I enjoy presenting on AI, innovation, and business practices to professional and community groups throughout the region. I am driven by curiosity and a desire to use research as a force for positive change.

Outside of work, I enjoy creative pursuits (and the occasional esports match), spending time outdoors, and seeking out the best local coffee shops. I believe that education should be both practical and transformative. My superpower is helping students discover the confidence to experiment and take risks, both inside and outside the classroom. The best advice I’ve ever received is to “fail forward”—and I encourage my students to embrace growth, resilience, and lifelong learning in everything they do.
