I am a Professor of Information Systems and currently serve as Chair of the Department of Accounting, Finance and Information Systems. My first job out of college was as a nuclear shift test engineer on Nimitz class aircraft carriers for the Navy. Following that I moved to working in the production department of a newspaper where I started taking classes for my MBA concentrating my education on Information Techology. Upon finishing my MBA, I returned to school full time to complete my Ph.D. in Business Information Technology at Virginia Tech. Since then I have been a professor at Radford University where I have taught classes in database, networks, programming, management information systems, decision support systems, spreadsheets and cybersecurity management.
I enjoy teaching and working on keeping our Information Systems program current and relevant to the needs of students and industry. Most of my recent work outside the classroom has been on keeping our information systems programs current which industry needs. This has been particularly challenging with the rapid development and changes in the cybersecurity management area. I also have spent a great deal of my efforts developing our Excel classes (one of singularly useful programs currently in use) allowing our students to earn both of the Excel certifications.
