Sustainability Leadership Team - Internship Program
The 2018 - 2019 academic year marks Year Two of the Sustainability Leadership Team! The internship can be voluntary or academic; interns will gain experience and professional skills while building a resume and/or meeting academic requirements. The internship is unpaid.
Radford Sustainability Interns will work with the Radford Sustainability Office to communicate the message of sustainability through project implementation on campus. Sustainability interns will help
improve and increase sustainable practices on campus, promote green living in residence halls, educate the Radford community about sustainability, and create programs and carry out sustainability projects at Radford. The internship team’s most recent undertaking involves implementing a food recovery system in Radford’s dining facilities, where food that would normally be thrown away is diverted to those in need in the community.
The internship will consist of approximately 4 – 8 hours per week, planning and implementing sustainability projects, activities, and events on campus. Sustainability Interns will collaborate with other interns and partners to work towards assigned goals. Weekly meetings with the Radford Sustainability Internship cohort are required. Sustainability Interns will receive assistance from the Radford University Career Center in marketing their experience and skills to the workforce.
A Sustainability Ambassador is an on-campus resident and Hall Council member who will lead sustainability education, outreach, and action in the residence halls. In collaboration with Residential Life Staff, Radford University Sustainability, and other campus partners, Sustainability Ambassadors will conduct peer-to-peer education programs and information campaigns to integrate sustainability into residential life.
