Radford University is committed to being a more eco-friendly campus through a variety of measures, including a strong commitment to recycling:

  • Battery Recycling is available in all the residence halls and other areas across campus. Both rechargeable and nonrechargeable bins are available with residence life staff.
  • Online Recycling Bin Request is available online.
  • Radford University hosted its first zero-waste event as part of Welcome Back Reunion Weekend on Oct. 2, 2011, and ended the occasion with less than a pound of trash destined for the landfill.
  • RecycleMania is a 10-week competition for college and university recycling programs to promote waste reduction activities to their campus communities.
  • Y-Toss? is a move-out program to divert unwanted items (food, clothes, furnitures and more) from the landfill to a local charity.
  • RU Recycling - Radford University continues to increase its recycling efforts by working with Residential Life to add new mixed paper containers to all residence hall rooms and providing updated resources on its website. But we still need your help to make it a success. If you have any recycling questions, ideas, or want to know how you can help, feel free to contact us at
