Volunteer opportunities available for Radford Gives Back

Radford University students, faculty and staff will have three volunteer opportunities to help the university community over two days this week during the eighth annual Radford Gives Back.

Highlanders are encouraged to participate in this Radford University tradition by donating, collecting and/or packing food items.

Radford University partners with Bobcat Backpacks, a nonprofit community organization that serves Radford children with weekend food insecurity. The fall 2023 goal is to match the previous collection total of 15,000 items. Reaching the goal will provide 140 children with weekend food for three months.

“Radford Gives Back is a beautiful partnership and a special event,” said Associate Vice President for Student Life Tricia Smith. “Bobcat Bobcats was founded by Radford University alumni, and this ongoing program helps current students, faculty and staff continue that spirit of service that our dedicated alumni developed during their time at Radford.”

A full list of donations requested can be found at: www.radford.edu/givesback.

Highlanders may drop off food items between 3-6 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 26, and between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 27. Register here to volunteer to collect and sort donated items.

Volunteers may also participate in packing the items on the MAC court inside the Student Recreation and Wellness Center at 5 p.m. Sept. 27. A community celebration will be held during the event.
