Radford University has been ranked No. 40 out of 100 in a nationwide listing of the Best Colleges and Universities for Veterans 2021 by College Consensus, a college ratings website that aggregates publisher rankings and student reviews.

According to College Consensus, the list is designed to be a different kind of college ranking, bringing together published expertise and student reviews to create a comprehensive aggregate ranking of institutions. College Consensus combines rankings from internationally recognized publishers like the Wall Street Journal, U.S. News & World Report, WalletHub and Money to form the Publisher Rating. Verified student reviews from sites such as Niche, Cappex, and Unigo combine to form the Student Review Rating. The average of these sources forms the Consensus Rating.

In addition, institutions on the list must meet several qualifications, including:

  • Be a Servicemember Opportunity Colleges participant;
  • Have a recognized student veteran organization;
  • Be a Yellow Ribbon Program participant;
  • Employ dedicated support contact for veterans, service members and families; and
  • Offer credit for military training.

All schools meeting these requirements are then ranked according to their Consensus Rating.

Radford was one of only five schools in Virginia to be named to the list, in addition to the College of William & Mary, James Madison University, the University of Mary Washington and George Mason University.
