Three programs in Radford University’s College of Graduate Studies and Research are ranked in the 2020 U.S. News & World Report Best Grad Schools Rankings.

Master of Social Work (MSW), Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) and Part-time Master of Business Administration (MBA) were featured in the U.S. News &World Report rankings.

Each year, U.S. News & World Report ranks professional school programs in business, education, engineering, law, medicine and nursing, including specialties in each area. The rankings are based on surveys of more than 2,054 programs that measure the quality of faculty, research and students.

"The continued presence of Radford University in the U.S. News & World Report Best Graduate Schools rankings and other accolades reflects the university’s success in providing the best educational opportunities and environment for our graduate students,” said Radford University President Brian O. Hemphill, Ph.D. “We are proud of this acknowledgement of the dedication of our faculty and the success of our graduate students. I congratulate the entire Radford family - students, faculty, staff and alumni - who make Radford an outstanding university and ensure the Highlander experience is one-of-a-kind.”

The MSW program at Radford University focuses on community-based family practice, allowing students to acquire a blend of direct family practice skills, coupled with an understanding and appreciation of human diversity. Its students develop the ability to practice clinically with diverse, self-defined families and to partner with them to make skillful contributions to the family-community continuum. The program seeks to develop the rich intellectual and ethical capacities necessary for skillful and compassionate social work practice within each student.

Radford University’s School of Nursing offers an online DNP program to prepare registered nurses with a bachelor’s degree in nursing science (BSN). The program is distance-based to promote maximum flexibility while maintaining quality and uses theory and research-based courses to prepare graduates to work in a variety of settings, and to provide leadership in healthcare. The program culminates in a residency tailor-made to the student’s learning needs and career goals.

The MBA program provides a broad-based, cross-functional education in core business areas with targeted electives in analytics and innovation designed to prepare students for advanced leadership roles in both private and public sectors of the global economy. Graduate business courses provide experiential learning opportunities that engage students in the educational process, thereby providing a bridge between theory and practice. The MBA program, along with the Davis College of Business and Economics, received the prestigious Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business-Accreditation extension in January 2019.
