Assistant Professor of Nursing Katie Katz has been named as one of the Virginia Nurses Foundation’s 40 Under 40 outstanding emerging nurse leaders.

Katz will receive the award at the 2018 Virginia Nurses Foundation Gala, themed Superheroes of Nursing,  on Sept. 22 in Richmond.

Katz was selected from a record number of nominees as one of Virginia’s outstanding young nurses because of her achievements in professional practice, leadership and advancement of the nursing profession beyond the practice setting and is considered by the organization to be an “exceptional rising nursing leader.”

“I have always been proud to be a nurse. This is a wonderful profession and being at Radford University has allowed me to advance my leadership and clinical skills. I am flattered and humbled to be singled out by my colleagues in this way," said Katz, who is the coordinator of Radford’s RN-to-BSN program that allows individuals with Registered Nursing credentials to advance their career with a Bachelor of Science-Nursing degree.

“Katie’s contributions are many and exemplary. She’s an important part of our School of Nursing (SON) faculty who continue to enhance the School of Nursing’s reputation for nursing education excellence,” said Iris Mullins, interim SON director. “We are always pleased when these dedicated nursing professionals and educators are recognized by their industry peers.”
