Radford University Board of Visitors to consider 2018-2019 academic year tuition and fee rates

In accordance with Section 23.1 – 307.D. of the Code of Virginia, requiring a thirty-day public notification, the Radford University Board of Visitors’ Business Affairs and Audit Committee is scheduled to meet on Thursday, May 3, 2018 beginning at 1:30 p.m. in Martin Hall, Third Floor, Mary Ann Jennings Hovis Memorial Board Room, Radford University, Radford, Va. for the purpose of discussing and recommending 2018-2019 academic year tuition and fee rates to the full Board. The full Board will consider the Committee’s recommendation as part of its quarterly meeting to be held on Friday, May 4, 2018 beginning at 9:00 a.m. in Martin Hall, Third Floor, Mary Ann Jennings Hovis Memorial Board Room, Radford University, Radford, Va.  During these meetings, full consideration will be provided to tuition and fee assessments for the upcoming academic year. Among other factors, the discussion is expected to address future cost considerations, results from the recent General Assembly session, and ongoing support of the University’s new strategic plan.

The Board will consider a proposal to increase tuition and mandatory fees between 3.95 and 7.95 percent. The revenue generated from the increase will be utilized to address state mandated items, health benefit rate changes, personnel costs, student financial assistance, and select institutional initiatives including the implementation of the University’s recently approved five-year Strategic Plan, Embracing the Tradition and Envisioning the Future.

At this time, there remains additional uncertainty associated with the Commonwealth’s biennial budget, which further emphasizes the need for the institution to maintain a conservative fiscal outlook.  However, as exhibited in years past, Radford University continues to remain committed to providing residents of the Commonwealth a high-quality education at an affordable price.

Prior to the May 3, 2018 Committee meeting and the May 4, 2018 Board meeting, full agendas with supporting materials will be posted on the Radford University Board of Visitors website.
