New 'Animals on University Property Policy' approved

A new University policy, Animals on University Property Policy, has been approved, effective Dec. 1, 2017. The policy establishes the requirements for animals, including service animals, support animals and pets, being brought on to University property. The Animals on University Property Policy applies to all members of the University community, all University property, and all animals owned or controlled by any person while on University property. This policy was developed based on campus feedback regarding the need to address animals on University property.  Please be sure to read the policy in detail to understand the differences between service, support and pet animals as well as where each type of animal is allowed on University property.

Students, the Standards of Student Conduct (Section 4.D.31.) has also been updated to reflect this policy. If you have any questions regarding this policy please contact the Dean of Students Office. Questions specifically related to service and support animals can be made to the Center for Accessibility Services.

Employees, if you have questions regarding this policy, please contact your respective division head. Questions specifically related to service animals can be made to Human Resources. As a reminder, all University employees are responsible for familiarizing themselves with all applicable University policies. Please review the new Animals on University Property Policy, as well as other applicable University policies posted on the Office of Policy Compliance website.
