COBE lecture explores economics of U.S. immigration policies

Zachary Gochenour, an economics faculty member at James Madison University, will speak about “Putting a Lid on the Melting Pot: Immigration Policy in the U.S.,” on March 22 at Radford University.

“Changes in immigration policy have been among the most socially and economically significant changes in America's past,” Gochenour said.

In his lecture, Gochenour will explore “the economic and political pressures which have contributed to the development of this policy in history and continue to shape the discussion today.”

Gochenour’s talk is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. in the College of Business and Economics’ (COBE) Kyle Hall room 340. Refreshments will be served at 6 p.m. The event is hosted by the Economics is Everywhere lecture series, sponsored by the university’s Department of Economics.

The Economics is Everywhere program launched at Radford University during the spring 2015 semester. As part of the initiative, students are offered lectures from economics experts and participate in a semester-long book club.
