RU senior wins prestigious accounting scholarship

Radford University student Bryan Yanchulis has been awarded a scholarship by the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB).

Yanchulis, an accounting major, received the $10,000 scholarship after being nominated by Radford University Accounting Professor Lynn Saubert.

“Bryan is an outstanding student. His excellent study skills, along with an analytical mind, has earned him the highest grades in our program,” Saubert said. “We are pleased that Bryan chose the accounting major at Radford. He represents the best in our major, college and university.”

The scholarships are one-time awards made payable to the educational institution for eligible expenses such as tuition, fees, books and supplies.

To qualify for the merit-based PCAOB scholarship, individuals must be enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program in accounting, demonstrate interest and aptitude in accounting and auditing and demonstrate high ethical standards.

Yanchulis will be a senior when the fall semester begins at Radford University.

"Bryan is a very impressive young man. He is quiet and modest, and it is easy to overlook him in class. Easy, that is, until you see his performance,” said Dan Davidson, chair of the Department of Accounting, Finance and Business Law in the College of Business and Economics (COBE). “He is an outstanding student, and I am proud that we have him in our program."

The PCAOB supports the development of a diverse accounting profession and encourages educational institutions to give consideration to students from populations that have been historically underrepresented in the profession, in determining student nominations.
