Verizon to present $20,000 gift at RU

On Friday, Nov. 22, representatives from Verizon Communications will visit Radford University to present a check in the amount of $20,000 to support Peaceline Plus, a sexual assault and dating violence awareness program co-sponsored by RU and the Women's Resource Center of the New River Valley.

The presentation will take place at 11 a.m. in front of McConnell Library, or, in case in inclement weather, the bottom floor lobby of Heth Hall.

Peaceline Plus is organized in part with RU's Center for Social and Cultural Research, which provides students with experience in providing sociological knowledge and skills and offering social research services for university, community and regional needs.

"This program, targeted at building healthy relationships and appropriate dating behavior for teens, and the suitable and safe use of technology in relationships, directly fits with the Verizon Foundation's goal of encouraging healthy relationships among teens and young adults," said Verizon’s Government Affairs Manager Steve Cronemeyer.

For more information on the organizations behind the Peaceline Plus awareness program, visit the Women's Resource Center of the New River Valley or the RU Center for Social and Cultural Research websites.
