Prize-winning musicians to perform on campus

The grand prize winners of the international musical competition held annually in the Sicilian city of Ragusa Ibla will perform on Tuesday, April 30, at Radford University.

The free public concert, hosted by the Department of Music, will be at 8 p.m. in the Performance Hall in the Covington Center for Visual and Performing Arts.

The Ibla competition, featuring pianists, singers, instrumentalists and composers from more than 50 countries, is held each summer as a showcase for musical talent of the highest degree.

This year's touring group includes accordionist Patryk Sztabinski from Poland, soprano Eija Raisanen and pianist Liisa Pimia from Finland, and pianist Jason Chiang from the United States. Selections will include compositions by Bach, Verdi, Puccini, Chopin, Bartok and other masters, as well as works written or improvised by the performers.
