Goblins on bikes set to hit Radford streets Wednesday; join the fun

If you’ve always wanted to ride your bike around the Radford University campus dressed as Batman, a vampire, a zombie or any other creature or character, Wednesday is your chance.

Bikes Are Awesome is hosting a bike parade and information table Wednesday, Oct. 30, at the Bonnie Hurlburt Student Center plaza. The parade around the RU campus begins at 4 p.m. Riders are encouraged to don Halloween costumes.

Before the parade, Bikes Are Awesome is hosting an information tent at the Bonnie from 2-4 p.m.

“Our goal is to talk about bikes, bike safety, mountain bike trails, commuting and anything bike related in the New River geographic location,” said Kenny Harrah, an RU Health and Human Performance adjunct faculty member who is organizing the event. “We will have maps, bikes and bike gear at our table.”

RU Sustainability Coordinator Julio Stephens will be at the information table to offer do’s and don’ts regarding bicycling.

For more information about the event, contact Harrah at kharrah@radford.edu or visit the Bikes Are Awesome Facebook page.

Bikes Are Awesome is a campus committee that promotes bicycling as a healthy and environmentally sound means of personal transportation. The committee’s goal is to increase awareness of bicycling as a primary form of transportation and promote the benefits of physical fitness and being active.
