Dr. David Sallee

Dave Sallee Recognized with 2022 OURS Outstanding Mentor Award

It is with great excitement that the Office of Undergraduate Research and Scholarship (OURS) recognizes the pivotal role of faculty mentors in providing transformative learning opportunities to our students through undergraduate research and creative inquiry. The OURS Outstanding Mentor Award recognizes demonstrated excellence in mentoring and supporting undergraduate researchers through a commitment to student development, creating opportunities, dissemination, equity, and career development.

Dr. Dave Sallee was selected by the OURS Advisory Committee for an OURS Outstanding Mentor Award based on student nominations. From the student nominations it was abundantly clear that Dr. Sallee has a profound impact on his students in the Biomechanics lab in Peters Hall that goes beyond content expertise. Emma B. spoke eloquently to the impact mentors have in sharing that “Dr. Sallee motivated me and aided my career development. I was able to gain admission into grad school, learn how to be caring and kind to all people, and how to be professional in a health setting.” Congratulations to Dr. Dave Sallee on behalf of Radford University for providing transformative research experiences for our students.

He has greatly impacted my personal development as I have become involved in research, and he has helped me to build confidence in myself.

Dr. Sallee has demonstrated what it means to be successful in academics, a career, and as a person. He is kind, compassionate, ready to learn no matter how many trials the task may require.

My experience at Radford would be completely different if I had not had the honor of being one of his students. I am so grateful for every lesson that I have learned from him and I know I will carry these lessons with me into my personal and professional life.
