Finding Nursing Articles in CINAHL in 5 Easy Steps

Step 1

You'll find a link to CINAHL in the Databases list under the Research tab at library.radford.edu. You will also find it at https://libguides.radford.edu/cinahl

Step 2

To find articles in nursing journals, start by putting nurs* in the first search box, and choosing SO Publication Name from the "Select a Field" dropdown menu. This will find the words nurse, nurses, and nursing in journal titles, so you will find results from nursing journals.

Step 3

Enter your search terms. These can be as many or as few words or concepts as you like. It's best to use a seperate box for each concept. You do not need to select a field to search this time. You may have to try out several different terms, depending on what you're looking for. Think about other ways to talk about your subject if you're not seeing the results you expect to see.

Step 4

Use the options on the left of the screen to set limits, such as the publication year or articles written in particular languages.

Step 5

Some articles will be followed by links to full text, including PDF Full Text, HTML Full Text, and Find Full Text. If these don't exist, or don't work, email ruclibrary@radford.edu with the complete citation for help getting the article.
