Health Insurance & Flexible Spending Accounts Open Enrollment Announced!
Open Enrollment began on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 and will end at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 15, 2018. The Spotlight newsletter mailing began the week of April 23, 2018, so employees should have received the Spotlight already at their home address. Additionally, employees should have received the Spotlight via email. The Spotlight lists premiums and plan changes effective July 1, 2018 as well as FSA enrollment and the Premium Rewards Program information. Human Resources will begin accepting open enrollment actions beginning May 1, 2018.
This year DHRM is offering a fillable online enrollment form for your convenience. Complete the form, print, sign and send it to Human Resources along with additional information that may be required when adding dependents. Forms may be emailed if using state ID’s only. Forms should not be emailed with social security numbers. No action is required if you do not want to change your health plan coverage and do not want to enroll in FSA.
HR will also offer a series of Open Enrollment Informational sessions for employees. These sessions will last approximately one hour and registration is not required. Choose from one of the May sessions scheduled below in Heth 022:
Legal Resources – Open Enrollment
Legal Resources has partnered with the Commonwealth of VA to offer coverage for employees and their families for a broad range of legal services. Now is the chance to enroll with Legal Resources as their open enrollment period occurs May 1, 2018 through May 18, 2018 with plans effective on July 1, 2018. May is National Physical Fitness & Sports Month. Regular physical activity is good for your health! Physical activity is anything that gets your body moving. Try to aim for 2 hours and 30 minutes of moderate activity each week. If you haven't been active before, start at a comfortable level. Once you get the hang of it, add a little more activity each time, then try getting active more often.
A reminder for new mothers or soon to be moms. To better assist with maternity questions and concerns, please check out our Maternity Resources on the HR website under Highlander Wellness. We hope this will be a helpful resource to guide employees with questions and concerns regarding maternity planning.
Summer hours have been approved starting May 14, 2018 through August 3, 2018. Work hours will include the hours of 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with 30 minutes for lunch. In order to maintain a high-level of service to our students, the campus community and the general public, offices must remain open until 5:00 p.m. Therefore, the alternate schedule may be rotated among employees in respective offices and/or units in order to provide adequate staffing until 5:00 p.m. The alternate schedule will provide an opportunity for employees to enjoy the summer weather. Before observing the alternate schedule, employees must receive approval and direction from their respective divisions and/or departments.
Starting May 18, 2018 through August 3, 2018, employees are encouraged to wear business casual dress and display their Highlander Pride by wearing Radford University logo attire and Radford University colors. Please be mindful that we, as a Radford family, must maintain appropriate and professional dress during this time.
Memorial Day Holiday
Radford University will be closed Monday, May 28, 2018, in observance of Memorial Day. If you are required to work you will earn compensatory time on an hour-for-hour basis. You can view the Holiday Schedule on the HR website.

Outstanding Parking Fines
Please remember that after 72 hours, a ticket is considered past due. All unpaid fines of employees will be referred to the Virginia Department of Taxation for collection, an external collection agency or to the Payroll Office to garnish wages. Please ensure all parking fines are paid promptly to avoid late fees and collection efforts. A full copy of the Parking Regulations can be found on the Parking and Transportation website.
