Late Timesheet Submittal and Approvals
All employees need to be aware and adhere to the deadlines for submitting timesheets. Additionally, supervisors should be attentive to the deadlines for having their employees timesheets approved. Late submission and approvals delay the leave process for the entire campus. If you are a supervisor and do not have a proxy set up, please make sure you set one up immediately. Any questions or concerns regarding faculty/staff timesheets should be directed to Pam Smallwood at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 540-831-6110.
Important Notice for Supervisors of Wage Employees
The 2013 Amendment to the Manpower Control Program prohibits wage employees from working more than 1500 hours between May 1 and April 30. Supervisors of wage (hourly) employees are reminded to closely monitor hours worked by wage (hourly) employees throughout the work year defined as May 1 through April 30 of any given year. Regardless of the employees hire date he/she may not work more than 1500 hours during the designated work year. With the current wage work year winding down it is important that supervisors closely monitor scheduling to ensure their wage employees do not exceed 1500 hours. Once the employee works the maximum 1500 hours he/she must be prohibited from working until May 1, 2018 and exceptions will not be granted. Additionally, the employee is not permitted to work more hours than are budgeted for the position. Position supervisors will be held solely responsible if a wage employee exceeds 1500 hours worked in violation of the Manpower Control Act. Employee Service Awards
The Employee Service Awards Program has been scheduled for Wednesday, April 25, 2018. The program recognizes Radford University service with awards beginning at 10 years of service and at five year increments thereafter. All recipients have been mailed an invitation with detailed information concerning the program. If you are reaching a milestone in your service with Radford University and have not received an invitation, please call Human Resources at 540-831-6177.
Presidential Employee Service Award Nominations
Nominations are now being accepted for the 2018 Presidential Employee Service Award. All classified employees are eligible and must have at least two (2) years of university service at the time of nomination. Previous award recipients are not eligible until five (5) years after receiving the award. Eligible classified employees can be nominated by any Radford University faculty or staff member with approval from the appropriate Division Head. The nomination form and criteria information are available online or a copy is available in the Human Resources Office.

HR Training Sessions
PeopleAdmin SelectSuite training is recommended for all employees who use the SelectSuite system. The PeopleAdmin SelectSuite system is designed to allow users to track the applicant and recruitment process. The Applicant Tracking module streamlines the recruitment process with transparent communication and consistent hiring processes. The Position Management module allows users to modify and manage position descriptions. The training sessions will be hands on and in a computer lab. The locations of each class may vary. Please see the SelectSuite 2018 Training for specific locations of each class. You MUST pre-register for the class. Classes will be held on the following dates:

2018 Health Insurance and Flexible Spending Open Enrollment
Mark your calendar, Open Enrollment is May 1, 2018 through May 15, 2018. This is the time each year to make decisions about your health insurance benefits and flexible spending accounts (FSAs). Human Resources will present a series of informational sessions in preparation for the new plan year beginning July 1, 2018. Department of Human Resource Management (DHRM) will mail Open Enrollment information to employees in late April outlining options, plan changes, rates, and enrollment instructions for the new plan year. At this time, our office has not received advanced information or details regarding Open Enrollment. Additional information will be provided when available. Highlander Half Marathon & 5K
Radford Athletics will be hosting the second annual Highlander Half Marathon and 5K presented by Carilion Clinic on Saturday, April 28, 2018. The (NEW!) half marathon course will take runners on a tour of Radford that includes Downtown Main Street, surrounding neighborhoods, through Wildwood Park and end in Bisset Park. The 5K will begin at the Dedmon Center, and runners will jump on the Bisset Park trail along the river. This race provides a scenic and family-friendly race for everyone to enjoy. Both races will meet in Bisset Park and end at the Rollin’ on the River Food Truck Rodeo.
