Radford University offers a comprehensive package of Commonwealth of Virginia and agency-specific benefits available to employees. These benefits include health insurance, flexible spending accounts, leave, life insurance, and primary and supplemental retirement plans. Also included are employee-centered benefits such as CommonHealth, Wellness, and employee tuition assistance. Our goal is to ensure that employees are well informed of the benefits that are available and can easily access information regarding these benefits.

Your window to add or increase coverage is open now. The Commonwealth of Virginia is offering all eligible employees a Guaranteed Issue Employee’s Whole Life Insurance, which allows you to purchase cash value permanent life insurance to supplement your current benefits program. This life insurance protection has no medical exams, no medical questions and is available to your immediate family, and will stay with you should you leave your employer, as long as premiums are paid when due. Eligible employees can enroll in one of Radford University's health insurance plans several options allow these plans to meet the specific needs and the needs of their families.
Radford University also offers employees various wellness resources to help maintain a healthy lifestyle to balance work and life.
Radford University provides a robust leave program that includes annual, personal, sick and holidays to help promote a healthy work-life balance.
As an agency of the Commonwealth of Virginia, eligible classified Radford University employees are automatically enrolled in the Virginia Retirement System. Faculty have the option to enroll with the VRS or another ORPHE provider. Our experienced retirement team is here to assist you with any questions you may have relating to retirement or retirement planning.
All eligible Radford University employees are automatically enrolled in basic group life coverage. Employees may elect to enroll in additional optional life insurance coverage to better fit their specific needs.
All Radford University employees are covered under the Virginia Workers' Compensation Act for work-related injury or illness.
Employees can choose from several options of short and/or long term disability plans. Plans through the VSDP and other providers are available to offer income security if unable to work.
