Training & Professional Development

All Radford Employees must complete the State Mandated Training requirements as set forth by DHRM and are completed within the new employee orientation period of 30-90 days. These training requirements are completed and recorded in the Commonwealth of Virginia Learning Center (COVLC).

Required Trainings

Commonwealth of Virginia training sessions are required for all Classified Staff, TR Faculty, AP Faculty, and 1500hr Wage Employees. These should be completed within an employee's first 30 days of employment unless otherwise noted.

Managing Virginia Program

The MVP is a comprehensive management development program sponsored by the Department of Human Resource Management for all Commonwealth supervisors and managers.

Passenger Van Training

The Passenger Van Safety Awareness Training course is accessed through the D2L platform. Upon successful completion, the student receives a certificate that can be printed and retained for documentation.

Statement of Economic Interest

  • If you have been notified that your position at Radford University requires you to file an Annual Statement of Economic Interest (SOEI), this training is mandatory at least once every two years.

Golf Cart Training

The golf cart and utility vehicle safety training course is accessed through the D2L platform. This training includes information on the City of Radford's Ordinance regarding golf cart and utility vehicle use as well as a map of streets where golf cart or utility vehicle use is permitted. Upon successful completion, the student receives a certificate that can be printed and retained for documentation.
