The following committees are housed under the McGlothlin Center for Global Education and Engagement.

Education Abroad Advisory Council (EAAC)

Responsibilities of the EAAC

The purpose of Education Abroad Advisory Council (EAAC) is to review and make recommendations regarding study abroad proposals at Radford University. The EAAC’s purpose is to:

  • Assess proposed programs for compliance with University policies and procedures.
  • Recommend the approval or rejection of proposed education abroad programs to the Assistant Provost for Global Education and Engagement.
  • If the Assistant Provost for Global Education and Engagement agrees with the recommendation, the proposal will be sent for approval through the appropriate channels according to University policy. 

Membership

Members of the EAAC will be selected based on the following criteria:

  • Members must have experience with international education or be involved in the operations and logistics of a program abroad.
  • Members will be appointed to a 3-year term but may be rotated off prior to the end of their term for lack of attendance or participation.
  • Members will be appointed by the Assistant Provost for Global Education and Engagement.

The following departments and divisions may be represented on the EAAC:

  • McGlothlin Center for Global Education and Engagement (represented by the Education Abroad Coordinator as Chair of the EAAC)
  • Davis College of Business
  • College of Education and Human Development
  • Waldron College of Health and Human Services
  • College of Humanities and Behavior Sciences
  • Artis College of Science and Technology
  • College of Visual and Performing Arts
  • School of Nursing
  • Financial Aid Office
  • Office of the Registrar
  • Office of the Bursar
  • Academic Success Center

Meetings

The EAAC convenes as needed to review program proposals and conducts business via email, Zoom or in-person as necessary. The time commitment should not exceed 10 hours per semester.

International Scholarship Committee (ISC)

Responsibilities of the ISC

The International Scholarship Committee (ISC) is responsible for reviewing scholarship applications on behalf of the MCGEE. To this end, the ISC reviews applicants and awards scholarships for the McGlothlin International Education fund, the Kirk Asian Scholars Program, and any other scholarship programs managed by MCGEE, and in accordance to each fund’s eligibility and requirements.

Membership

Members of the ISC will be selected based on the following criteria and conditions:

  • Members must have experience with international education or be involved in the operations and logistics of a program abroad.
  • Members will be appointed to a 3-year term but may be rotated off prior to the end of their term for lack of attendance or participation.
  • Two faculty members will be recommended by the Faculty Senate and appointed by the Assistant Provost for Global Education and Engagement.
  • Two staff members (outside of the MCGEE) will be recommended by the Staff Senate and appointed by the Assistant Provost for Global Education and Engagement.
  • Two staff members from the MCGEE will be appointed by the Assistant Provost for Global Education and Engagement.

Meetings

The ISC convenes as needed to review scholarship applications and make awards. It conducts business via email or in-person as necessary. The time commitment typically not exceed 5-10 hours per semester.
