Sustainability and Environmental Studies Certificate

(18-22 Credits)


Certificate requirements include taking the course, GEOG140 Introduction to Environmental Studies, followed by courses in physical systems and the environment, policy and economics, and human dimensions, and culminating in a Capstone course with field applications. (19-23 CREDITS)

The curriculum consists of five content areas, including a core course covering the fundamentals of geographic information systems and concepts of space, representation, spatial reasoning and map use; spatial data analysis; data management and vizualization; special topics in geospatial intelligence; and a Capstone experience in which students demonstrate the ability to apply GeoINT knowledge, skills, and techniques to a national security problem and communicate findings in a professional manner.
