Interdisciplinary Class Project Published in the Journal of Chemical Education
Dr. Kristina Stefaniak (Chemistry) and Dr. Jamie Lau (Biology) published their work entitled “Crossing Floors: Developing an Interdisciplinary CURE between an Environmental Toxicology Course and an Analytical Chemistry Course” in the Journal of Chemical Education. In this work, Dr. Stefaniak and Dr. Lau discuss how they developed a course-based undergraduate research experience where students from the Chemistry and Biology departments worked together to answer a scientific question regarding water composition. This project was designed to provide students a real-life experience useful for their future careers. Students reported positive experiences with the courses and felt a sense of project ownership.
