Chemistry Student Presents Research at 254th ACS National Meeting

Lauren Purser, senior chemistry major, presented her research that she performed with Dr. Amy Balija at the 254th Annual American Chemical Society Meeting in August 2017.

On Monday, August 21st, Lauren Purser, a senior chemistry major, presented her research at the 254th American Chemical Society National Meeting in Washington DC. Her poster presentation entitled “Preparation and Characterization of Novel Biorenewable Polymers for Removing Organic Pollutants from Aqueous Environments” focused on remediation of organic pollutants from water using renewable polymers. This work was done in collaboration with Dr. Amy Balija, Assistant Professor of Chemistry, during the 2016-2017 school year.

Lauren’s travel was supplemented by a Travel Grant provided by the Office of Undergraduate Research at Radford University. Dr. Amy Balija and Dr. Sarah Kennedy also attended the national meeting as governance members of the American Chemical Society.
