Biology Department assistant professor Chet Bhatta was named the 2023 recipient of the Artis College of Science & Technology Outstanding Faculty Award. Bhatta teaches at the RU Carilion campus in Roanoke - he teaches, advises, and mentors student research, with his students presenting at external conferences.

In related research news, Dr. Bhatta's lab remains very active! He has a forthcoming publication in Biological Conservation on his research in Asian bee conservation.  He was also awarded a VWCC’s Innovation grant: Beehives on campus and Bee Campus US in collaboration with Ms. Heather Butler (Biology Head) at Virginia Western Community College (Received on May 2, 2023). He and his team established a small apiary at VWCC campus this summer which provides opportunities for collaborative CUREs and independent research projects for Radford University Biology students and project-based learning for VWCC’s Biology, Agriculture, and Horticulture students.

Thanks to the Artis family for supporting this award, and congratulations to Dr. Bhatta for all his continued successes!
