Hands On Learning

Students examine a human skeleton

Don't just read about anthropology - at Radford you practice it.

At some schools you may spend 4 years reading about anthropology.  At Radford, we have engaging course work filled with hands-on experiences.

You won’t just learn from textbooks, in your classes you'll learn by doing real anthropology.  We know that you need skills to be successful after graduation, so our classes include resume' boosting activities like analyzing artifacts from an archaeological site, collecting ethnographic data, observing primate behavior at the zoo to,  and estimating sex and age of a human skeleton.

Our students get experiences in the field and in the lab throughout their classes. We help our students gain major skills that are needed in the world today - skills that will help you stand out from the competition.

In the Anthropology major, you can go from a class that questions what it means to be human to a class that considers what an artifact was used for.

Radford's Anthropology courses are engaging and use hands on activities to encourage you to think about the world in different and creative ways.

My favorite classes are the ones that involve Forensics.  I like them because it prepares me for my future career as a Medicolegal Death Investigator.

My favorite activity in class so far has been a boardgame we played to learn the different methods of evolution and how they change through time.
