Debbie Sherman-Lee, Chair of the Christiansburg Institute Board of Directors (left) and Victoria Dean get a good look at the records, while Julia Lucas readies a box for transporting them to the Christiansburg Institute.  The institute is the namesake of the Christiansburg Industrial Institute, which educated generations of African American families from across the state of Virginia and beyond for a century beginning in 1866.  The Christiansburg Industrial Institute remains standing off of N. Franklin St. not far from Christiansburg High School.
