Pierce Honored with Birren Award
Dr. Tom Pierce was honored by the 2013 James and Betty Birren Award for Excellence in Practice at the 2013 Biennial Conference of the International Institute for Reminiscence and Life Review, held in November in New Orleans. The award recognizes practitioners and researchers who work on the front lines of examining the therapeutic uses and outcomes of life review groups, reminiscence therapies, and other autobiographical approaches which seek to understand human development and aging from the “inside out.”
At this conference, Dr. Pierce also launched a new online scholarly journal, the International Journal of Reminiscence and Life Review, of which he is the editor. The inaugural issue of the journal, which contains articles by 11 of the most well-respected and accomplished leaders in the study of reminiscence and life review.
